We have published our own page on the crowdfunding platform Voordekunst. On this site you can help us to realize the project. Worldwide people are eagerly watching whether we will succeed: A growing community of music-lovers wants to give Florent Schmitt the place in music history that he deserves, but does not yet have.

The latest news: We have reached our initial goal, so La Muse will soon be available worldwide. We are very, very happy with that. Donations are still welcome, we would love to make an international release tour. The fundraising page is still open until 30 april.

What is our project about?

Florent Schmitt - a great adventure

Last year, when all our concerts vanished into thin air, we seized the opportunity to realise a lifelong dream: to record Florent Schmitt’s spectacular Trio à cordes op.105 (1944). The most challenging work ever written for string trio, it is colourful, emotional and humorous, alternating swing with symphonic grandeur. Also, it has never been available on CD since the last recording was an LP from 1985! With the help of audiophile label, Cobra Records, we managed to record the full piece after months of practicing.

Supporting the Muse

We are very proud of how the recordings turned out. In order to make Schmitt's music available for everyone again, we have planned a worldwide CD release. As lockdown measures have taken their toll on Prisma’s financial situation, we ask for your support to cover the necessary expenses: hall rental, editing, mastering, texts, photography, design and printing of the CD.

Prisma and the Muse thank you sincerely for your donation!

Milhaud and his Muse

We chose to balance Schmitt’s turbulence with the intimacy of La Muse ménagère (1944), a suite of 15 piano miniatures by Darius Milhaud, in a brand new version for string trio. We entitled our CD-to-be: “La Muse”!

Darius Milhaud wrote La Muse ménagère out of gratitude for his wife and muse, Madeleine, after the couple fled to America in 1940 to avoid persecution by the Nazi regime. Our own loved ones, our muses Bob Gilmore, Petra Griffioen, Tim Kliphuis and Marijn van Prooijen, all played their part in re-arranging this suite especially for string trio.

In the above video, Prisma's violist Elisabeth tells the moving story of how the first arrangements came about.
